Vacation Smiles

 SUMMER IS HERE
(and how!) — you know what that means–family vacations, longer getaways and fun trips! It’s our favorite season of the year but a
s dental professionals, we want to make sure that when you leave on vacation, you don’t forget your awesome oral hygiene routine. Check out these tips to keep your teeth healthy when you’re traveling!

Get a Dental Checkup Before The Trip

Nothing can ruins a vacation like a toothache or dental emergency. And depending on where you’re going, optimal dentistry may not be available. M
ake sure everything is in tip-top shape before you take off!

At your visit, your Dr Hill and Dr Schneidmiller will make sure that any tooth restorations (crowns or fillings) are firmly in place. Untreated cavities or fragile dental work can cause pain on flights and there’s not much to do about this at 36,000 feet in the air!

Watch What You Eat When Traveling

One great thing about vacations is the amazing food (think of the buffets on cruises-wow!). Then again, it’s pretty easy to get carried away. Just remember to eat sweets and snacks in moderation (especially the hard or crunchy kind), and make sure to bring some sugarless chewing gum to pop into your mouth after eating. Even five minutes can make a difference in cleanliness.

Brush, Floss, Rinse!

Keeping your teeth healthy is something that requires daily care, so make sure your toothbrush, toothpaste, floss and favorite sample bottle of rinse join you on the trip!

To pack your toothbrush its best to store it in a case or bag that is ventilated. If you use a brush head cover or need to pack it in a bag without any ventilation, make sure it’s completely dry before storing it. This will help reduce the amount of bacteria on your toothbrush. Or even better, take a new brush with you and toss it when you leave your vacation destination.

Bon Voyage!  Bon Avion!  Bon Honda!
