Dental Resolutions for the New Year

Goals to Keep Your Smile Safe!

Many of us take time at the end of each year to make a few New Years Resolutions in order to make improvements in our lives. Many people make health-related resolutions like losing weight and exercising more to improve upon their health. The doctors and staff at Hill and Schneidmiller D.D.S. have a few La Mesa and Spring Valley dental resolutions to suggest that can help make 2018 a great year for your smile!

Cut Back On or Eliminate Drinks from Your Diet

Drinking soft drinks is one of the worst things you can do for your teeth. The high acidity and sugar content makes soft drinks one of the biggest nightmares for those pearly whites. Make 2018 the year you kick the habit of drinking soft drinks whenever you’re thirsty. At the very least, try to cut back on the amount of soft drinks you consume.

Amp Up Your Oral Hygiene Routine

It’s important to be diligent with your oral hygiene routine by brushing your teeth four times daily and flossing once per day, preferably at bedtime. If your oral hygiene routine could use some improvement, resolve to do better this year. By far, the best way to safeguard your oral health is do be awesome with your brushing and flossing. Make it a habit of spending 2 minutes brushing your teeth each time and flossing well before going to bed at night.

Visit Your La Mesa and Spring Valley Dentist Every Six Months

If you are one of the many people who skip seeing the dentist every six months, make a promise to yourself that you’ll schedule those appointments in 2018. Having regular dental checkups will keep your smile healthy. These routine visits can also help you avoid dental problems that could lead to you having to schedule even more appointments than just two each year!

Make Your Smile Shine with Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening can do wonders for brightening up your smile. If your teeth are dull, discolored or stained, make a resolution to have your teeth professionally whitened this year. Once your teeth are whiter and brighter, you’ll feel like a million bucks and be full of confidence when you’re around others knowing that your smile is white and attractive!

The team at Hill & Schneidmiller D.D.S. would like to wish all our patients a very Happy New Year!  We’re always available to speak with you so please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
