Charcoal Toothpaste: miracle product?

charcoal

Charcoal in your toothpaste!
‘Activated Charcoal’ is the ingredient in a new breed of toothpastes advertised to whiten your teeth. It is an abrasive similar to baking soda, silica or pumice. It may remove surface stains just as well as other abrasives. Be wary of claims that charcoal will strengthen enamel!  Other ingredients within the toothpaste may do so, but charcoal does not.
If the stains you wish to remove are more than just surface stains, or you wish to fully brighten your smile, a professional whitening system can be recommended by Dr Hill.  Some systems are available over the counter, some are individually customized for the situation and frankly, some systems are not safe/wise choices. As always, the decision is yours and we welcome the opportunity to give you the information you need to make the best choice!
